Regina Mundi commissions new block
REGINA Mundi Girls High School in Gweru has commissioned a new state-of-the-art administration block. The block incorporates offices, a boardroom, staff room, kitchenettes, six A- Level classrooms, a spacious library and also houses a resource centre and ablution facility block. Speaking at the official opening and celebration of the 2015 Zimsec results ceremony, the school’s headmistress Sister Consilia Jangara said the new facility would create a good learning environment for the girls.
The school recorded a 98 percent pass rate for A-Level and 95 percent for O-Level in the November 2015 public examinations. “The former library could house 48 students against a total enrolment of 764 students, hence there was need for infrastructural development at this institution to create a better learning environment,” said Jangara.
Retired Reverend Bishop Xavier Munyongani, who was the guest of honour at the ceremony, encouraged the pupils to use the new resources to improve their school’s performance and higher education.
Midlands Provincial Educational Director, Agnes Gudo applauded the school’s performance in last year’s O and A-Level examinations.
“I’m very honoured to grace this occasion and as a school I hope you continue to raise the Midlands Province’s flag high because of your extraordinary performance,” she said.
