ZIMASSET PROVINCIAL EXPO TAKES OFF AT CIVIC CENTRE
The ZimAsset Midlands provincial expo exhibition, running under the theme “Bringing products and service information to the people” opened Friday morning at the Civic Centre, behind the Municipal Headquarters along Robert Mugabe Way.
The exhibitions will provide an opportunity for exhibitors to informatively exhibit their products and services on one major event in each of the provinces. The expos have generated a lot of interest from companies such as Telecel, PowerTel, Africom, NetOne, Trevor Dollar, Midlands State University, among many others.
In pursuit of a new trajectory of accelerated economic growth and wealth creation, Government formulated a new plan known as the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation (Zim Asset), covering the period October 2013-December 2018.
“Zim Asset was crafted to achieve sustainable development and social equity anchored on indigenisation, empowerment and employment creation which will be largely propelled by the judicious exploitation of the country’s abundant human and natural resources,” reads part of the foreword by President Robert Mugabe in the ZimAsset document.
Companies were setting up stand-up banners, tents and other corporate identity material as at 0800hrs. Media Expressions, an emerging events managing powerhouse run by Pascal Kwaramba, says it has over the past four years created and hosted the Harare Brands Fair, The Chitungwiza Business Fair as well as the Bulawayo Brands Fair.
Following on the success of the above exhibitions, the event management company has dedicated this year to hosting the ZimAsset provincial info expos, which will be held in all the country’s 10 provinces. The fair is run with the blessings of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs.
“We invite other companies to come since we will be in Gweru till tomorrow (Saturday)evening, and we are not charging small to medium enterprises anything for exhibiting – its just for free! Companies have an opportunity to present and showcase their products, as well as outline their vision with regards to ZimAsset ,“ said Kwaramba.
Midlands Provincial Minister of State Jason Machaya is expected to grace the event, while Stunner and some other national as well as local entertainers expected to breathe some life into the event. The Gweru Expo follows, the Chitungwiza one, the first such exhibition this year – which was successfully held at the Chitungwiza town centre on March 14 and 15, with more than 30 companies showcasing their products.
Exhibitions will run through to December, with Mutare being the third port of call, followed by Masvingo and Bindura.
